I'm so old I Remember when:

I'd rather clean chicken coops than play volleyball like we did back in the 50's.
Ditto! I would rather clean horse stalls and chickens coops! Gosh I hated gym so much. In High school we had to take a gym class - hated hated hated hated gym, the gym teachers were jocks, or twits, hated the teachers - wow I have a lot of repressed hatred for gym class!

That's for sure! I went to college down South. Even at church in Sunday School or Children's Church the little ones were taught to call us "Miss First Name", etc. They never called us by just our first names. Up here, my parents taught us to always call adults "Mr. or Mrs. Jones", etc., (with the exception of close family friends) but not common with most people. Some of my cousins didn't even use Aunt or Uncle. We would never have gotten away with that.
Was so furious one night when I had to bring my grandmother to emergency. The twit Nurses calling her by her first name - except one older Nurse who called her Mrs …. I made a point of thanking her and telling the other Nurses that when I trained to be a Nurse we called everyone Ms, Mrs Mr or sire or ma’am. We had to wear our hair up it couldn’t touch the collar of our inform which was always white, and we had to wear our hats (ok glad the hats are gone - hated when they fell into the bed pans 😆), we could wear a dress or slacks but it had to be white.

Each section’s uniforms were a separate colour - blue for housekeeping, yellow for dietary, maintenance guys wore dark blue. Drs wore scrubs or lab coats over street clothes.

One knew who they were approaching to ask a question, these days the nurses housekeeping dietary - they all wear uniforms willy-nilly all sorts of colours and patters you don’t know who’s who!

It ticks me off when someone calls me by my
First name and I don’t know them. And I will call them out on that! Gosh I am an old fart!

Still around.

I am Aunt Kelly o everyone it seems 😁

My niece got a dozen eggs from me for one of the other teachers in her school she teaches at, 10 chicks from a dozen eggs, 6 pullets 4 cockerels 😊 the chicks ended up back here once they hatched and were a few weeks old.

The kids sent me a huge thanks you card ‘Thank you Aunt Kelly’ 😁

Tamest chicks ever after spending 3 weeks in a kindergarten class - I would put one of my barn cams in the doorway of the barn so they could see the chicks growing up with the rest of the flock. I had to be very careful ‘no swearing’! Hahaha, sometimes I would get a greeting Good Morning Aunt Kelly from the camera - first time it scared the heck out of me! I had the camera at ground level and my niece panned it around to see me cleaning water pails 😁 so much fun with those kids and the chicks.
