Yes. The way I remember it is you had to reserve a time, then you called the operator and they made the call for you. Very complicated!

Yes! And I still remember the 4 digits for a number of folk (now I use them as PIN numbers).

I'm so old, my 4 younger sisters had one of those. Wow, I remember it got used so much it cracked and dad used duct tape to fix it and they cried.

Hubby does too, and cassette tapes and has plastic milk crates full of records. So a couple of years ago I bought him one of these, that we used to have a different version of when I was a kid.
