West Virginia had a operational one room schoolhouse as late as 1970 over in the mountains. It’s closed down now but there are more than 50 still in use, mostly in the Dakota area and lower Michigan (surprisingly enough).

I went to part of the first grade in a 2 classroom school in 70-71. I got transferred to the "big" school during that year.

This doesn't exactly fit the thread, but I remember a sense of shock when I first heard U2 played on *classic rock* radio. I was all "Wha-?" It just didn't seem possible. LOL

Now I have the same feeling when I see young adults and learn that they were born in 2001. Or somebody says "Back in the 90s" like it was the Cenozoic Era...
