I'm so old I Remember when:

I've read that our body slows down making Melatonin as we age. I don't think mine makes any at all. One of my docs told me he takes 60mg at bedtime. I'm up to 40mg and if I get up I take 20mg more. The slow release formula. 10mg is a normal dose so now I now I'm not normal. I remember when by body made enough to keep me asleep at night easily. I never woke up til it was time.

I do that too and I have 77 reasons why. I remember when I didn't have to sleep with a pillow between my legs.
It's actually a good thing to sleep with a pillow supporting your top leg sleeping- keeps your hip and spine aligned :)

So keeping with a Hallowe'en theme - I remember when we used pillow cases to get our candy and other loot - do kids still do that?

Have you been to a sleep clinic? there are many reasons for waking - sleep apnea is a huge one for guys, RLS for us ladies (ask me all about that... :( ), reflux, arthritis pain....

No reflux, arthritis pain to spare even with prescription meds. I have sleep apnea and a CPAP machine I sleep with. Some nights very little apnea and some a whole lot. 9 events or more per hour.

I remember the old folks talking about sleeping problems long ago as a child and thinking this would never happen to me. I am now aware as to how wrong I was in that thinking.

I guess I'm blessed that I sleep well and soundly once I get to sleep. It's the getting there I have trouble with. As I lie there, enviously listening to DH gently snore, five minutes after he closes his eyes, lol! That's why I hang out with you guys for three hours or more after I go to bed! 😆

I've had insomnia since I was 13. I don't remember what it's like to sleep through the night.
