I don't remember it but do remember that people were suppose to let their ox eat of the grain that they were threshing 4000 years ago. I have this weird image in my mind of and ox pooping on the grain as it threshed it... Eeewe.

Everyone was worried about Y2k.

Oh ya! True - I worked at IBM on the Y2K project and everything was fine.

It wasn’t until the first leap year we had trouble no one tested the software for that and it as a huge rush to do patches for the software to fix issues with the leapyears! Hahahaha.

I remember working a lot of hrs on fixing software for that! Gosh o am getting old!

I will not be working on a Y2K type project ever again. Period. Never Evah. One year 1999 was enough for me for thousand lives. I will never forget that year and the events it entailed. I can imagine what people will think about the Y2K year fixes and wonder what all the fuss was about. It was caused by the one time cost of storing those 2 extra characters of a 4 digit year when computers came onto the scene. I think more data can be stored on a smartphone now than could be stored on early mainframe computers. Some people's lives got horribly changed over that 2 character shortcut to save the expense of doing the job right the first time.

The computer world was storing the date with just the year and not the century part. 1999 was just 99, 2000 was 00, 2001 was 01, and by now it would have been 23.... but which 23? 1923 or 2023? Computers can't figure that one out as after all they are really just a dumb box of sand. Nothing comes out of a computer that is not put in first in some form for enough data put in for the computer to calculate the answer with math. After all a computer can only count to 1. They understand 0 and 1 and nothing higher. They just count using zeros and ones at a speed that no human can come close to. I had some amusing computer class profs. Someone could start a thread about why are chickens smarter than a computer....
