I'm so old I Remember when:

I just recently picked, washed and cooked a ton of greens for the freezer. DH laughs at me when I'm washing them. He says I sterilize them. I have to be sure there are no bugs in my greens!

I don't even like to say that magg_t word. I don't want to see any near my food! :sick

Never ate possum but would gladly shoot, clean, cook and eat a squirrel or rabbit if I needed meat on the table. Or some nice fish, shrimp, crabs? Cleaned and cooked tons of those too. A blue crab is the nearest thing to a bug I want to eat! :D

If I was forced to consider bugs or fake meat, I think I would try some tree bark. 🤣

it replicates the taste and texture of actual beef, sausage, and other meats

If they only eat greens . . . could you call them "high protein greens?

This is good!

I remember when it was a known fact that corn was a tall grass and that grass stores the nutrients it extracts from the ground in its seed for the next generation to start with. Being the most nutrients are stored in its seed I like my beef feed the seed with enough stems for adequate fiber for digestions of the nutrient rich seed... Only a small percentage of the population has had agricultural training and experience and demand grass fed beef that has been cooked to make it tender. That makes me wonder if it become like vegetables that are over cooked losing a lot of their nutrition? It's a complex world we live in now. I remember the simple times eating at grandma's table when it was all good.

"l'll never eat bugs" has probably become more of a political position today in the preceived push to socialize the word. (I believe it, but that's not the point.) :hmm

I was thinking about this as I remembered our Thanksgiving Dinner this week. DW and I went to a Seafood resturant in Gulfport MS (it used to be Gus Stevens in the 50 & 60's).
I had shrimp, oysters, catfish, soft shelled crabs and DW had a Huge plate of Snow Crab. :drool Takes the wind out of my I'll never eat bugs rant.
It's hard for a Cajun on the northern gulf who loves meat but would push a filet back to eat crawfish. :lau
