I'm so old I Remember when:

I didn't know that. We have a couple here now, but I just didn't see the draw so we've only gone once.
I love Aldi. They have the best German chocolate. And good deals on most things. But be careful of the handles on those bags, they rip easy

Seems like everyone I talk to goes to Aldi more or less for their baked goods and nothing else. ;)
They do have good chocolate cake. But I don't buy many baked goods. I go for their produce and meat. Hubby likes their ice cream

It depended some on how much time they spent in the pasture versus the barnyard during the day. Sometimes we had to chase them to the field and at other times they went on their own.
In the summer it depended on how bad the flies pestered them and so forth.
The ability to read the animals comes from spending years in daily close proximity with them.
When you asked how do cows predict the weather, I was almost at a loss on how to describe it because it's more of a mental acknowledgement than an expressed definition.
About a year or so ago I saw an article online which, at the time, I found vaguely interesting but only remember the gist of now.

Some scientists were studying cattle behavior and weather phenomena. They found that when some certain weather was expected, the cows gathered in the NW (?) corner of the pasture. They all were facing North except one certain cow (last one? / second to last?) faced South back into the pasture. The 3 pictures accompanying the article had no more than 20 head in each. Don't know if it's true for larger herds as well.

There are certain canned good they carry for long term preparedness foods we like from Aldi. Just now getting one in our new area so we need to make a trip and inspect.

I love Aldi for their reasonably priced milk and the cheeses from around the world as well as their fruits and some of their veg that don't leave my wallet empty. They're also a great place to find authentic German uncured brats and spaetzle during Oktoberfest.
