I'm so old I Remember when:

Yup. That is it exactly. I am glad I am not alone - it is an odd feeling to try and describe to others.
In clearing out the barn I found a sled/toboggan. It long predates me moving here. I never had one as a kid. So I am all excited that I can go tobogganing. Who am I kidding? I would almost certainly die.
Good thing we aren’t getting much snow here any more so I won’t have to face up to this issue. Last year I convinced myself it was the lack of snow that stopped me!
Twenty years ago or so, several of my nephews wanted to go tobogganing on an old sand mining hill. In several places on the sidehill there were what appeared to be jumps, naturally left like that and not intentional. After trying out several of them we chose one close to the bottom of the hill that when the speed was right you would fly close to 16' into the air and 24' (yeah we measured) out from the tip of the jump. On most of those rides we had 3-4 people on board and none of us stayed with the toboggan when it hit the snow drift at the very bottom. However, that "jump" was situated in such a way that there was always a snow drift at the bottom of it and no one was ever seriously hurt.
This was all from a 6' toboggan.
Sometimes when I reflect back on things we did, I'm wondering how we survived it.

I'm so old I remember my grandmother making her laundry soap in an old iron 3 legged pot. The stuff made crazy shaped pink blocks when hard. I know I played with a piece of it for a bit and no idea if I put it back or not.
My grandmother made lye soap. That stuff would take your hide right off.
