I'm so old I Remember when:

I remember the whole school lining up in the cafeteria for a scoliosis check. We had to bend over and pull up the backs of our shirts so the nurse could check our spine.
I'm glad kids are getting screened for things today.
I was on a roll until third grade when they started putting lessons on the chalk board. I found out I severely needed glasses, but not until I was in High School.

I remember sleeping outside under the stars in the summer time. We slept on cloth bags filled with hay, called pallet beds. It sounds very itchy to me now, but when I was a kid that was the best sleep ever. The breeze, the crickets, the coyotes howling just past the tree line. :love
My brother & I tried sleeping out "under the stars" one night with my dad (former Marine)...until the mosquitos drove us inside.

I remember sleeping out under the stars on the ground as a kid. The lightning bugs were so plentiful it was like watching the stars dance. I’ve read that light pollution may be killing them off 😔
I remember lightning bugs like that too. We'd go to the drive in movies when I was a kid and there was always a huge area for kids to play...swingsets and all kinds of stuff with a huge grass area the lightning bugs loved. Our folks would watch the movie while us kids had a blast running all over with tons of other kids. Not an adult in site...they were all watching the movie 😂. We'd terrorize the lightning bugs... getting their glow on our hands sometimes when we'd accidentally squish one. There were so so many of them then!

Hahahaha thanks that’s hilarious! My nieces would pull that with those friends here, we have a couple of rotary phones still and they knew how they worked but their friends didn’t - they would howl with laughter - kids - just love them 💕
My youngest wasn't amused when I took her cell phone away years ago and plugged a rotary phone in in her bedroom...no instructions 😂. We still have a landline to this day though I'm not sure why to be honest, since we all have cell phones too.

Better to dial 911 from a landline.
