I don't think 12 year olds are the same nowadays. At least none of the ones I know.

I remember when there was only one variety of Oreo cookies and one flavor of Mountain Dew Now Oreos take up like half the cookie shelf and I see a new weird Dew flavor almost weekly!! Did everyone get bored or something??

I really thought it was such a waste of time. My brother would play it for hours while I was spending my time impressing the trailer park girls with my Evel Knievel skills jumping rows of red wagons with my banana seat bicycle.
