I'm so old I Remember when:

This is the old style metal to metal canner my grandmother used for decades. This is the model we bought. Love the fact that it will work on a smooth top stove. We do have an outdoor gas stove to use it on too once we get a shelter to use it under. Once the green beans come in next year along with sweet corn it will get heavy use. This is not a bottom dollar budget model canner. It also doubles as a pressure cooker. American made and I've never heard of one of these models being recalled. These do not have those nasty gaskets that can and do cause problems.

My brother passed with Alzheimer's a couple of years ago at the age of 69. He was 6 years younger than I. Sorely missed. We never got to do anything fun after he retired. I remember how older kids where told that the Stork brought babies home to parents. Glad your brother survived. :)
I am so sorry to hear that about your brother. You have my condolences.

Yes, lol, the stork. I searched emojis and there’s no stork 😳 So who’s bringing the babies!?!?!?

Going out to eat was bologna sandwiches at the park.

Pressure cooker. I also have a couple pressure cookers. Well made, well taken care of. As with anything reading the manual helps.

Citizens Band Radios.
No handle. I was in charge of calling Dad every afternoon to see if he was on his way home.

When Dad would reply I would ask when he would be home. We lived 10 minutes from where Dad
worked šŸ˜‚ He loved his cb’s!

Playing ā€˜army’

I verified that my memory was correct about the day that JFK was assassinated. 11/22/1963 was a Friday and on Friday we didn't dress out for PhsyED. Boys and Girls met for class in the gym where shoes were removed and we danced on basketball court. Those were the days of the Jitterbug which I hated. The slow dance was hard enough with 2 left feet. We did do besides the slow dance the waltz. We even did square dancing with was maybe my favorite. The jitterbug was taught by the formal steps but the kids older than my class had already turned it into moves of their own. I'm sure there are some YouTube videos of the old dances of the day. I think were were slow dancing when the music stopped and coach Conner made the announcement that JFK had been assassinated and school was out for the remainder of the day. In later years I found out that an uncle turned out his employees for the day with pay.
