Yeah, I was (ahem, AM) a real addict. Mom signed us up for Reader's Digest Condensed Books just to feed my addiction. Hello, my name is Blue and I am a biblioholic....Not me. I stayed away from that and the crowd that was into it.
I watched my brother throw away so much of his time and money chasing his fix.
Seemed once you started it never ended. Of course I experimented a couple times in high school. I didn't care for it and didn't fall for the peer pressure or teachers saying it was good for ya.
I remember once when I was with my brother going somewhere cool and we stopped and got gas. I lost track of him and waited and waited. Finally he showed up and was acting shifty as he got in the car and tried to shove something behind the seat without me seeing.
Ya books. SMDH, we're in a hurry and he's off scoring a couple paperbacks from a dark corner in a gas station. I didn't even know that was a thing.
I knew right then how low someone would go to feed that addiction and knew I was never gonna be like that.
I've got some of those from the 50'sYeah, I was (ahem, AM) a real addict. Mom signed us up for Reader's Digest Condensed Books just to feed my addiction. Hello, my name is Blue and I am a biblioholic....
I remember getting a set of encyclopedias one volume at a time. Believe they were from the grocery store with green stamps. Anyways ya my brother would get a bit excited everytime we got a new one.Yeah, I was (ahem, AM) a real addict. Mom signed us up for Reader's Digest Condensed Books just to feed my addiction. I had a foal here named Bonny but my little niece could only call her Barney, so that was the name stuck with her haha! So instead of Bonny Bell, it was Barney BellMy (dramatic) best friend picked out a very distinctive dark purple for her living room walls. My elder daughter quite accurately christened it, "Gothic Barney". (My friend was delighted and still calls her wall color by that name.)
Both daughters were big Barney fans as kidlets. We were glad when they graduated to "Spice Girls"...no more Barney songs invading our heads.
I am so dreading having to get my trucks tires, I get aggressive tread mud/snow ones, needed for the logging and ice roads I travel for working. Donāt even want to know what they cost nowMy last set of truck tires I got for right at 1200.00 total with going local to get mounted. Buying the tires local would have been around 1800.00 total
Ma and Pa Kettle were before my time when they first aired but I enjoyed them on reruns on the Saturday afternoon movie time on TV.The Real McCoys
World Book Encyclopedia, we got them one volume at a time but I believe it was through a door -to-door salesman. Then, each year we also were sent a yearbook.I remember getting a set of encyclopedias one volume at a time. Believe they were from the grocery store with green stamps. He was quite the embarrassment.
