Whoever came up with that needs a F in thinking right.Pencils without erasers. In first grade we were not allowed to have a pencil with an eraser until getting a 100 on the spelling test. Even then I knew how dumb that was. If I can get the 100 - I don't need an eraser.![]()
This would be nice when I get finished in the garden today.
I remember watching a crew of men using those in uniform furnished by the state of FL.
We had tire swings and burlap bag swings. Fill an old burlap feed sack with sand and tie it closed about the half full mark and then a rope around it below the knot and tie the other end over a stout tree limb and you were good to go. The tire swing worked best when the limb was on a river bank where the river didn't have many gators. At least none over 5' long.Speaking of which, does anyone remember tire swings? We used to have one at my old elementary school playground but they took it down after some kid got his head cracked open when him and his friends were swinging it around too roughly. He hit that top bar that was holding it up and fell to the ground like a sack of you-know-what.
ETA: I had also built my own tire swing that is hidden in the woods of a monument nearby somewhere…Last time I checked, the rope was still there but someone stole my tire or probably busted their arse trying to ride it. I have no regrets![]()
I have one in the shed that I SHOULD be swinging in the yard.I remember watching a crew of men using those in uniform furnished by the state of FL.
