I'm so old I Remember when:

Most modern companies think quality is using the cheapest trash available. I've had two Pixel 4's have their batteries puff up (AKA about to explode) and I've had to replace at least one HP laptop battery. All devices made in the last ten years. :barnie .
I, on the other hand, am still working on an HP laptop I purchased in...or whatever. It's old. Running windows xp, but I think it started out with Windows 7.

I can remember..
We had milk and eggs delivered.

NEVER locked our doors. Knew every neighbor by name and actually waved and talked to everyone in the neighborhood.

We knew where dad kept his gun but didn't ever once would even think about touching it because the "mighty belt" was worn as a reminder of the consequences of getting caught doing stupid things.

Every morning at school we would say the pledge of allegiance, stand for the national anthem. Then pause for a moment of silent meditation.

Teachers would not need permission to paddle you. In fact, they would not even notify parents that they changed the color of your butt to blk and blue after you got the paddle. lol.

Our phone was a party line. You sometimes had to wait to make a call. When it rang it was a major privacy issue with all parties ringing at the same time
The only phone we had was on the kitchen wall. If it rang you would have to run to catch the call before they hung up because you didn't know who was calling.

NO AIR CONDITION. Open the windows and the massive fan in the hallway ceiling would suck out the heat. And everything else not nailed down lol.

TV had 2 channels and in black & white. The remote was us children. Us children only used it Saturday morning for about an hour or two.. then off to explore the world.

Children actually went outside and socialized. You could tell where they were hanging out because there would be a big bunch of bicycles there in the yard.

Nothing was more important than family back then. Now a fast internet connection appears to be more important.. sigh.

In a way I miss it but don't want to relive it. I just try not to become spoiled and keep my memories as a reminder of how good we have it these days.
