I'm so old I Remember when:

I walked by a meat case on my way to the bread aisle and took a look to see what they cost. $6.99 a pound. Same price as a chuck roast. I think I'll keep eating beans over rice. I remember chuck roast at 69¢ a pound.
I saw Blue Bell ice cream today for $4.99 a pint at a Dollar General. Not that long ago you could get a gallon for 4 bucks.

I'm not stupid enough to pay that for any brand of ice cream in what this economy is shaping up to be. I did pay $7 for a gallon of Cookies 'N Cream ice cream today that is good enough for me.

Yea, I didn't buy it, no way. Wouldn't mind paying that price you found.
 
It's just a name anymore. They'd have to change their name everyday if they were trying to indicate their prices.
That makes sense, but did their products really only cost a dollar once upon a time? Or was it always just a phrase?
