I'm so old I Remember when:

Yeah, I’m not a phone person although it is a necessity……I suppose. Being retired about two years now I end up keeping it nearby because my old company has me on a retainer for phone support. BUT, once done with that I will not be carrying it with me as a rule.
I carry my phone with me pretty much all the time mostly in case I fall. I'm not ready for one of those "Help I've Fallen" buzzers yet and if I did fall I'd want to notify someone who actually lives with me and is only a few steps away, not the local volunteer fire dept. that would get lost looking for me because the stupid GPS out here totally sucks, lol.

My Uncle got Alexas for my Nana so in case she falls and we are not around she can demand that Alexa call someone. If you've got a iPhone, you can set up "hey siri" so in case you fall you can ask siri to call for help, or hey google if it's android.

Good idea, thanks. My very mild fear is of falling on my way out to the hen house. Chickens and dogs dig, so there is a possibility of turning an ankle and going down out there.

I only remember being weirded out by having someone put gas in our car for us in Mexico.
I was weirded out once when we hitched-hiked in Greece long time ago.

The people who gave us a hike were from Norway. They had a rental and needed petrol. At the ⛽️ the lady of the gasoline offered us a drink, around lunchtime 🥃 , while we had to wait.
Especially the driver was flabbergasted. In Norway there is a zero tolerance policy for drinking for I don’t remember how ..many years.
