When I was a plastic injection mold designer at a tool and die shop at the turn of the century*, we worked 10 hours M-F and 5 on Saturday. When it got busy, it was up to 11 and 6. There were guys on the shop floor (young and single) who worked 12 hours whenever it was available and some worked on Sundays. If they saved their money, they probably could have retired in their 40s.
*I wanted to use the phrase, "turn of the century" about something that happened in my lifetime!
