I'm so old I Remember when:

There is no way we could buy what we have (decent house, 25 acres, on a river, in a very rural area) for the price our house/acres would fetch.

If we sold, this is what would happen, I'd bet: the 25 acres would be chopped up into parcels, houses built, and sold for gobs of money. We would not be the beneficiaries, that's for sure. And our neighbors would lose the peace and quiet we all love out here.

We lucked onto this place in 1994. It is one of the VERY lucky breaks we've had, and we were in a position to jump on the chance when it presented itself.

We're savers too. That's how we were able to take advantage of this incredible opportunity. We surely were not making a lot of money. I think the best year we ever had -- for our combined incomes -- was way, way south of 100K.

We are the luckiest people I know.

We have been on our property since 1992. Thankfully it is ours now. We get offers to buy by mail or loggers who want to cut our trees. They go to the shredder. I love our trees!

We have had locals who want to rent and put in a mobile home. Friends who say we should put in a few mobile homes and rent them. Legally we could do this. I know that could create income but I do not want the hassle. We bought this place so no one would be living closely. We don't want to fill it up with people!

My needs and wants are very simple. I like things just the way they are.

I've noticed recently alot of land for sell even out in the county has restrictions about livestock. Here we have no restrictions. We can have cows, horses, pigs, poultry, etc.

I bought the parcel that adjoins me on the south for the express purpose of not having neighbors there. It has no right of way which doesn't matter to me because it adjoins me.

I constantly get snail mail, text and voice mail offers from builders wanting to buy the property. They think they can get the property cheap because of the lack of right of way.
