I remember party lines

When you picked up the phone and other people would be talking and you would hang up wait and pick up again only to hear two different people talking and if it was an emergency you would tell them and they would hang up so that you could use the phone

Gulf shores and bear point Alabama still had party lines in the 1970’s and Mississippi

My college physical in 1979 was done by my pediatrician and it was so Smokey

Airplane arm rest had ashtrays
Bathroom stalls had ashtrays

Half dollars were in use in registers at all stores.

I don’t remember when half dollars or the huge dollars were in regular use …
But they still showed up on a daily basis in the early eighties when I worked at a drug store like a 5&10 with a pharmacy and by 1993 you hardly ever saw any

Aluminum foil wrapped around the TV antennae actually worked.

We (USA astronauts) used to often go to the moon. I was 9 when Neil Armstrong walked on it.

tv rabbit ear antenna’s and foil really did work
Mobile al only had 2 local stations CBS NBC and 2 pbs stations
Pensacola Florida and biloxi Mississippi had ABC and the weather had to be good or you did not get them

listening to AM radio up and down the dial and listening to other cities in the us and sometimes hearing other languages from far off countries
