I'm so old I remember when 7/11 came to our small town selling milk for 99¢ a gallon... Today's news is the chain is closing all stores for good now.

I remember we had
PAC-a-Sac store that became 7/11 and they became circle K

I remember dating someone whose car had a hole in their floorboard so big you could stick your foot in it and another car when he shifted gears you could see the ground /street

I remember when Walmart was open 24 hours a day

I remember back in the eighties before cell phones I was making a deposit at the bank for the drug store that I worked for and while I was standing in line I noticed a man in a long coat (it was summer) and I just left and went back to work and told the owners to call the police that the bank is fixing to get robbed and it was too late the man had a rifle /shotgun
Needless to say I talked to the local police and the FBI that day

I remember also working in the drug store back then when police were called for

When I moved to a tiny one light town in eastern Oklahoma 25 years ago, their little convenience store was called Tote-A-Poke. I thought that was the funniest and one of the most inventive names I'd ever come across.
The thing that culture shocked me the most about that move, though, was that you could go into any store barefoot and no one thought twice about it.
