I'm so old I remember when there were chicken pens scattered all over town and they all had either plain red or white hens in them. Now they have been banned except for kids in 4H or FFA that have show chickens as projects.

Yup! Andy's Grocery on the corner. Emergency source of milk and bread, for sure. Also Hostess cakes, comic books, and penny and nickel candy. Everybody loved Andy.

Woodard's grocery 5 blocks from our house had a ton of penny candy along with full size candy bars for a nickel. My grandfather was always bringing a little bag home for me and my little brother.
