I remember the gas embargo

We always yelled " Punch bug" then whatever color it was. "Punch bug yellow, no punch backs"

Oh yes, we would say the color too. I forgot that. Slug bug red.

We did slug bugs, HHR big butt car (my cousin came up with that one), and PT cruiser bruiser. We only said colors for the slug bugs. I also came up with one with no hitting where if you saw a van you'd just say, "van is (color)". So creative

I remember home ec classes that actually taught you how to cook/bake and sew.

I wanted to take "shop" but I couldn't because I was a female. By the time our kids were in Jr High they were able to choose shop or home ec. I told the girls to take shop and our son to take home ec. I figured as they got older they would learn how to cook or use tools by themselves. Our son actually loved home ec he was the only boy in a class full of girls.

In my school, we all took 12 weeks of shop, home ec, and art. Looking back, I sure wish I'd taken more shop classes, but they didn't interest me at the time. The 12 weeks was good, but enough.

I remember telling the home-ec teacher that I already knew how to make pancakes.

Had no idea that pancake mix even existed. I knew how to make them from scratch.

Everything they made in that class was from a mix--biscuit mix, pancake mix, gravy mix. We did cook spaghetti noodles...and covered them with canned sauce.

Weird. And they taught the girls to sew on a button. Still don't know why I was in that class, but it was required.

Thank-you. I am extremely proud of her.
Our Tammy was in her high school marching band, she played Trumpet. In college she graduated with 2 Batchelor Degrees. She joined the US Coast Guard as a seaman and "Mustanged" her way to an officer rank, she retired as a full Lieutenant. During the time she was in the Coast Guard she obtained her Masters Degree. She's been a Paramedic now for over 15 years.

Beautiful inside as well. Good job, mom and dad.
