Fourteen plus twins in her arms? It doesn't look like there are any other multiples.

That would not be all that unusual in our Irish families except in families that large there are usually a couple of sets of twins.

Or it's a second/third marriage. They often had kids with the first wife (or husband) who then died and they remarried.

Band of Brothers was like that, too, as I recall. I only made it through about the first two minutes. My DH at the time said it was the most realistic portrayal of Viernam he ever saw.
