Sometimes the grass is greener over there because your not over there messing things up.She's the one that wanted out (when things were going well). She found out the grass wasn't greener.
My kids read Elie Wiesel's Night as required 9th grade reading in school, visited the holocaust museum with 10th grade history, and watched Saving Private Ryan during 11th grade history class. (Their history teacher served in two branches of the military and Vietnam.)Saving Private Ryan was a good one too.
My Mom once asked me to videotape something. It sounds so weird when no one (except a few people) use tape cameras.
Well, you can never be more 21st century than texting and driving, so....
Well, I still call the refrigerator an 'icebox', even though we never had one.My Mom once asked me to videotape something. It sounds so weird when no one (except a few people) use tape cameras.
My husband's uncle served in 'Nam. Front lines. He saw some major "stuff". I say "stuff" because what I want to say will be censored. He is finally going back in January. It took him this long to be mentally ok to go back. God Bless him on his tripI haven't seen Private Ryan or Band of Brothers and despite being amazing movies many claim them to be, it's not likely I ever will. I had enough of 'Nam's realism growing up. Between the nightly news footage and worrying over cousins and my favorite babysitter being
"in country," I didn't (and still don't) need to resurrect that trauma.
And I know I watched Apocalypse Now, and I'm glad I did, that showed me enough to convince me that we don't ever, ever want to go through that again. God Bless Our Troops!
