I'm so old I Remember when:

Fourteen plus twins in her arms? It doesn't look like there are any other multiples.

That would not be all that unusual in our Irish families except in families that large there are usually a couple of sets of twins.
I had an cousin, Irish/Scottish background. She had two sets of triplets, three sets of twins and a single birth!

Well, I still call the refrigerator an 'icebox', even though we never had one.🙄😀
Speaking of older words, my grandma used to call her purse her "reticule." It was just a standard 1950s purse and it had the type of closure at the top that were two metal tabs you had to push past each other and oh my gosh those were SO HARD to open and close. Great crime deterrent but I have no idea how she opened and closed it with her arthritic hands.

My hubby watches WW1 and WW2 programs, but never the Korean or Vietnam war stuff. Too close, and especially Vietnam, on TV daily. We were on an army base Okinawa during Vietnam, plenty close enough.

My husband's uncle served in 'Nam. Front lines. He saw some major "stuff". I say "stuff" because what I want to say will be censored. He is finally going back in January. It took him this long to be mentally ok to go back. God Bless him on his trip
Thanks to them for their service. Also all the others who were referenced after these guys. Too many to quote. ❤️

My uncle was one of the troops rescued by Patton at The Battle of the Bulge. He never, EVER spoke of it and would sullenly shut down whenever the topic was even alluded to. It's hard to imagine something so traumatic that my big, boisterous uncle collapsed at its mere mention. It had to have been horrific.
My father was in WW2. He had 3 Purple Hearts and he still had German shrapnel in his head and right leg. He was always very quiet and NEVER watched war movies.
