Fourteen plus twins in her arms? It doesn't look like there are any other multiples.

That would not be all that unusual in our Irish families except in families that large there are usually a couple of sets of twins.

Or it's a second/third marriage. They often had kids with the first wife (or husband) who then died and they remarried.

His Dad married twice, the 1st wife (our Great Gran) died with her youngest in a buggy accident (HORSE AND BUGGY) - so he married again and breed some more.
