I'm so old I Remember when:

Everyone on the street left their front doors open - Christmas is summer in Aust - and listened to each others Christmas fun as well as their own.
We did this for a little while yesterday - but someone was within vision of the front door to dong any opportunist burglars - unthought of back then.
Christmas pud is sold in all the shops premade in Aust these days - but back in the day mum used to make it with thipnee bits (3 pence) this was when I was very young - then it went to 5c pieces.

Our mall had an indoor carousel, too - a double decker!

I've always loved carousels. Still do. I can never pass one without riding it. I must have spent half my childhood riding the one at Disneyland.

I rode the indoor carousel at a mall once. It was big.

I found the elevators more fun. There were see-through ones and I really liked riding them.
I love those, too. The Bonaventure hotel in downtown Los Angeles has them. My high school prom was held there and that was the first time I rode one.
