Apparently the format was repeated in each market with local people.Romper Room? With Miss Sally, who purportedly didn't like kids!
That explains a lot. I've no idea who the local lady was but I vaguely remember being on it once. Preschool or kindergarten days.Apparently the format was repeated in each market with local people.
New Orleans had 'The Great McNut' and Mrs. Linda.
Baton Rouge had 'Buckskin Bill' and Mrs. Pat.
Fortunately, we still have the 1rst 4. Will's record was 188 outside my bedroom window on the roof when I was a kid. Grandmom was so proud of her $5.00 electric bills. Time seemed to mover slower then too.I remember whip oh wills on the roof, box turtles, lady slippers and wild quail in an area that is now completely developed. Milk was delivered on the front porch and my mom had diaper service. The meter reader would just open the unlocked basement door to read the electric bill that was low because there was no AC. A dial up phone with a long cord was edgy and my less fortunate girl friends had cheaper party lines where a total stranger could listen in. The world was a sepia color.
