I have NEVER had this happen before. I got 15 great looking Araucana chicks in May. One died of pasty butt. No biggy. 4 weeks ago I got rid of 7 extra cockerels. Left me with 2 cockerels, 5 pullets. Over the last week and a half, I have lost 1 cockerel and 2 pullets. I have no idea why. The first one was the cockerel. He acted poisoned one night when I put him up. Died the next morning. The 2 pullets are fine, then are dead in the coop in the morning. (not the same night) My KW chickens are right next to them, no problem with them. They free range a few hours in the afternoon but theres nothing they can get into. I waited so long for these chicks last year and looks like I may lose them all. I'm just getting over major surgery, money is VERY tight due to hospital bills and DH has brought up the divorce again.(He wanted me to have my surgery while I still had his insurance) I just don't need this now.

Maybe you need to call the place where you ordered your chicks and report to them of your loss. Did you feed them medicated feed? Plenty of water and warmth-I see you are in Florida and that shouldn't be a problem in the heat dept. I'm sorry for your loss of your chickies. I, to had surgery 3 weeks ago as my husband has lost his job as well. No insurance on the two of us now. Just keep up the Faith and keep praying God will intervene. Hope you recover quickly and get well soon! [IMG]

A wild guess here, but could it be the feed is bad?

I'm so sorry you are going through all of this. [IMG]

I'm in Gainesville Ga, not Fla! The chickens are almost 5 months old now. They were on medicated feed until about a month ago when I ran out. Now they eat the same layer pellets and scratch my other chickens are eating. No problem with the feed. I got them as day old chicks from a breeder, not a hatchery. I don't think it has anything to with them but something I'm doing or not doing. I really haven't seen weird poo in the coop so I don't know what it looks like. They just seem fine and them they're dead.
