I am doing my first quilt and I think I made a big mistake making my first block. It kills me to think I may have to take it all apart and start again. I literally could cry over this..... why me!?

It's part of the process. Look at it with a positive light and learn from your mistakes.

Ripping is part of stitching (or hooking or knitting)

Sorry that you have to redo the block. I have yet to make a pattern where I didn't rip apart a few blocks! Don't let it discourage you.

what are you making?

I would have been dehydrated for the rest of my life if I cried every time I had to rip them apart. I'm REALLY good at that, now. It is part of the process, yaddah, yaddah, yaddah....tell you one thing, it sure made me pay a little more attention. Then I'd get complacent again.

How much have you gotten done on the quilt? I have a feeling that if you are still at the making blocks stage you would not be so upset. Is the quilt together? Is it a mistake that the average person will notice? I am pretty much a reformed perfectionist. I have looked at things I have made after being told by many people how lovely they were and was only able to see the mistakes I made. I finally decided I needed to get over it.
If it is a block and not together yet then by all means redo the block and learn from your mistakes. If it is taking apart a quilt you are nearly finished with look at it carefully and decide if it is better to leave it or to redo it. Beauty and perfection are not the same thing.
