I SERIOUSLY can't believe that! And yet it's YOUR fault if an attack toddler HURTS your dog/s and causes them to nip!
We were at a plant nursery a couple summers ago and this guy had his English Bull Mastiff with him. My daughter was QUITE impressed (and in awe)...she told me she wanted to pet the dog...so I told her to ask the man if she could pet him! He was VERY excited....even offered to put my daughter (about 4 at the time) on his back and take a photo with my cell phone for us! Apparently, he PURPOSELY took him out into public and had him around people to socialize him. (I felt the 'riding' was 'beneath' the dog's dignity...and my cell phone is older than my child...still!...so no photos.) But it was nice to realize this gentleman had done his homework on the animal's bloodlines and was actively socializing his 'puppy'...he was also VERY happy she ASKED to pet him.
I guess people just don't teach their kids to have a 'healthy respect' for much of anything anymore!
On the flip side...my former neighbor's dog (sled dog mutt) once lightly grabbed my cat my her head in front of us. (Head IN his mouth) My neighbor looked at me like "wow...didn't think he'd do that!"...NO apology...no NOTHING! (She was at MY house!) Fortunately he didn't bite down! (This dog had a decent prey drive...killed a mink and took down a fawn in the woods! - but had NEVER done anything like that around a cat before.)
