Oh my goodness so many new things all at once....Well Sunday morning it was confirmed that my silkie *Snoopy* was indeed a roo

I heard him crow for the very first time & today I went out to check on everyone bc it had been raining and one of my leghorn hens was in the coop. I thought maybe, could it be she was about to lay her first egg ? So I left and came back 10 minutes later and sure enough she laid her *my* first egg

I picked it up(it was so warm) and patted her on the back and told her good job :) I was so excited I called my husband @ work to tell him.I told him I was like a kid @ Christmas. This has been such a wonderful experience for me as I've never had chickens before and I've been raising these 4 since they were 2wks old.Can anyone tell me what to expect from here on out such as should I be checking about the same time everyday for eggs or do they lay at different times, also will my other leghorn be laying soon too as well as my female silkie ? Thank you for understanding my eggcitement and not thinking Im silly.

Congrats on the first egg!

. I don't have chickens but I always collect in the morning for my ducks. They seem to lay between 5 and 6:30.

At first they can lay any old time the egg is ready. In my flock they have settled down to all laying before 3PM. Your other leghorn should be starting soon. I think most of us would wonder if you didn't get at least a little excited.

I only have 1 laying so far, she laid her first egg ( actually she laid 2 at once) sometime before 7 am Friday morning, laid the 3rd one around 4 pm Sunday and her fourth at noon today. She is all over the place with her timing.
