Thank you all for the info. Alex has been hanging on my back waiting to find out if we get to keep his Onyx. He's happy now. We both love our Ruby so much, we don't really care if she is a Red Star, just wanted to know. Should I let MPC know what happened, or just forget about it? Thanks again.

The Red Stars are suppose to be excellent layers, so I think you will be happy with her. I think the RIR are more aggressive. You could let them know if you want to.

I think you will like the Red Sexlink better than a RIR, she's prettier and she should lay more eggs, And I think you should send MPC an email and let them know, if I remember correctly, I don't think you are the only MPC customer this has happened to, but it looks like it all worked out well.

I'm glad you are happy with your substitution from MPC, but please let them know just the same... since it MIGHT help inspire them to increase their quality control.

I placed an order with them in August for three Blue Andalusian pullets, but instead received a "mystery" red/gray chick that they insisted was a Blue Andalusian. I think she must be an EE, but not sure.

She is now 12½ weeks old and has turned entirely black, but she doesn't have tufted cheeks. I'm waiting for her to start laying to verify if she lays colored eggs. Then I will send more pics to MPC to prove to them that she isn't a Blue Andalusian, afterall. It's very annoying that they didn't even admit to the obvious error!

Oh, I sent photos when I received the red chick in my order, also. When they didn't respond, I called them... and was given a BS story about 1% of Blue Andalusians turning out red chicks. Which is totally NOT true, btw.

Evidently, they would rather tell me that they have red Andalusian chicks in their flock, than admit that someone sent me the wrong breed, by mistake. Of course, I am prepared to keep the EE, but it would've been nice if MPC had accepted the proof I sent them, and not insult my intelligence regarding the "blue color gene". I know a Blue Andalusian when I see one!
