My original four chickens must all be hens - but I'm extra paranoid about one of them.

Her comb is much bigger than all the other girls but she's the same size as they are. She doesn't crow. I noticed tonight though, she has "spurs" or what I think spurs are after looking on google images. None of the other girls have this thing sticking out.

Is this 100% girl???

Do you see the spur thing? Tell me I'm just paranoid.

I'm guessing hen...wondering where are her feathers on her legs?? I thought she had a diaper on lol

I don't know what happened to her feathers. She came to me like that, and it was late, I couldn't see her to ask questions.

I mean I'm pretty sure it's a girl and I have 6 girls who are old enough to lay and I got 6 eggs yesterday, so unless one laid two it has to be a girl.

But the comb thing throws me off for some reason, and then of course to see those spur things even made me more paranoid. But I'm sure at a year old if it were a boy he would have for sure crowed by now, right?

I feel better. Thank you.

I thought only roosters got spurs.

Whewwww!

Is she a rescue hen? Because being kept in battery cages in a factory farm will easily do that and worse to a hen. If she is a red star then she's definitely a hen. Males of that breed are all white. Some hens just have very large combs.

looks like they are red sex links and 100% hens. looks like she is molting

oh i forgot to mention that the feather loss could also be caused by mites so you might want to treat them for mites asap parents did have some buff orps looking like that and it was caused by mites so also treat for them
