I'm traumatized. (graphic)

I found a guy at the flea market to take mine. If they are good enough, he buys or trades for them. If I am desperate (as with the mean roo), I would just give them to him. So far, I haven't given one - he likes the "bold" ones.

why did u need to kill it for?

well, if they are no use im sure there are people out there that will take it.
and why not give it to someone else to kill?

well there is a service in australia, its called "chicken retirement home"
u pay a fee of 25$ AUs... and they take your old one and swap a new one that is aprox 6 months old.

and the old one will retire on an acreage land the settle down.

well who knows if this is true, how do i know if they dont slaughter it to make dog food?
but either way at least im not the one to do the dirty work.

im sorry to hear.
im guessing u will never kill another one again?

Im sorry that it traumatized you broom ,just know that were here for you and we have all (most of us) have been in this situation before.
Its hard killing your first bird but Just think you are doing the hens good by doing this. To many roo's can be really bad in a small flock...

Heck the first time I tried to ring ones neck, It go up and ran off

The roo is still here but He stays in the trees at night ... so I cant catch him. But as long as hes not mean I'll let him stay lol

I'm sorry

and have to agree that removing the head is a better idea. I have broken necks before, and it can be difficult.
