Ah, that would make sense. And those rats were chewing off legs close to a sanctuary? Ughhh.

So Sorry for your loss. I read through this thread and I am just in shock as to whatever happened to your hen. I don't think it could have been a rodent. It just seems odd to me to think a rodent(s) would only chew on one hen's leg. There would have likely been evidence elsewhere. I.e. other birds damaged, or at least the other leg injured.

Do any hunters live around you? Do they free range? Is it possible she got caught in one of those fox traps that could possibly do that and she managed to escape?
