immobile hen

I would not worry about doing anything with her if she is broody unless you feel compelled to do so. Just keep taking the eggs away and sooner or later she will give up the idea. Some hens are persistently broody, meaning that they lay for a bit and then brood for a bit. I have silkies who are one of the world's broodiest bantams, and unless I am a hurry to get a hen back into production, I just let them brood until they give it up. Some take longer than others to do this, but it can take several weeks. The hen will get off the nest several times a day to get food and water and relieve herself - if you are in there, you can take her off to encourage her to eat and drink. It is a good idea to make sure she is free of parasites because mites and lice love to attack brooding hens. Don't leave any eggs under her as this just encourages the brooding behavior. Glad to hear she's not sick though
