More often than not, a crop disorder is indicative of a more serious underlying issue. It can occur as other organs are shutting down, and often it's cancer tumors blocking the chicken's system. We only know that, though, when the chicken dies and we do a necropsy.
Meanwhile, as long as you're willing to make the effort, it's worth a try on the chance it can give her more time in her chicken life.
