When I talked to my vet about bringing my chicken back out after an impacted crop she told me about a chicken who was a repeat offender. So much so that after many surgeries they had to keep the chicken off the ground and inside.

Has anyone had any success after an impacted crop or did their chicken just become a repeat offender?

This poor bird looks extremely ill. Did you take her back to the vet?

Crop issues are usually caused by another issue. Did the vet test for worms?

I did and she almost two weeks post crop surgery and recovering wonderfully. She was just very unhappy when I took that picture before her surgery.

She has been indoors since I figured out something was wrong and there are no signs of worms. She just had a really impacted crop.

I am just worried about letting her outside again. When I did talk to a vet they just told me about a different chicken they see regularly who just wouldn’t stop eating pebbles. Mine was just full of sand, pebbles, and hay. And she was more of a bully and would have most of the veggie treats they got and was always first to the food in the morning.
