impacted Crop - ? Blockage? for one week +

No weight loss is good, it means she's getting enough to maintain, but I'd like to see her gaining, so I would increase her rations.

Thank you Kathy. And we love our girls, so we do what we can for them...and I know you do, too! I wish we could afford the surgery... :(

I tried the handfeeding formula to water ratio at 1:2 and it was too thick to push through the syringe, so she got a little more water to make it work...but she did get 120cc. Do you think it would be OK to increase feedings to three times a day?

ANY other suggestions?

THANK YOU!

I think the blockage is past the crop, so I don't think surgery is an option (call your vet, I think he might say the same). As long as her crop continues to empty, yes, feed more and more often. I think 2:3 was as thick as I could get to pass through a 16 or 18 french tube, so I think that's fine - I don't measure anymore, I just add water until it looks right.

Sounds like you have a plan! Hope she does well. With the towels for bedding, they work well, just be sure there aren't any loose strings they could pull on and eat.
With the food coloring, have tried it with a couple, those who it worked on mine actually liked green and red/purple best, but who knows why ... your chicken may be different if she even cares. Originally actually tried it with a sick roo because he really likes spaghetti meat sauce and was trying to make something that was good for him look like that, and just kept trying different colors when he lost interest.
