Impacted crop - home surgery?

Hello!

My chicken has been sick (partly impacted crop) for almost two months now. I can feel a lot of hay in there, it is a big ball that does not go away. She can’t throw it up, and it doesn’t go further down in her system. This ball is partly blocking the food from getting down in her stomack, so the crop is always very full. I have tried with a lot of oil, yoghurt and medication from the vet, but nothing helps. I have spent $500 on her at the vet in medication, but they don’t know anything about chickens. I have asked a lot of vets if they can help me do surgery, but they say they can’t because they know nothing about hens.

so I have decided to do surgery at home. I have bought non-absorbable suture, glue for skin, and other things that I need. The only problem is that I can’t get hold of any absorbable suture! They don’t sell that to ordinary people in my country - they only sell it to vets and doctors.
So my question is: can I do the surgery with only non-absorbable suture to close the crop? Or can I use anything else to close it? I am thinking about doing the surgery as soon as possible, because the hen is getting thinner and thinner each week. That’s why I wont order online from other countries, the delivery time is so long..

Any suggestions?

That is amazing I had chickens years before and just getting started again. I used to use mineral oil and message the crop and break up the feed inside. That would not have worked on this chicken. I am glad to find this site I have learned alot since getting on this forum. Thanks

Omgosh! No anesthesia, at all??
Sometimes, you have to do what you have to do to save a chickens life. also, anesthesia is very risky in birds, as instead of lungs they have air sacs. Pain medicine and ice to numb can be used for simple operations.
