one of my hens has an impacted crop ( i Think) Its full and heavy i massage it daily and it feels quite firm.

She's still eating, drinking and pooping, so somethings getting through. she still lays the occasional egg too.

I heard that natural yogurt can help to break it up ??any tips please

Lost one hen to thing last year but this one is not poorly with it yet so hoping to clear it

You say it's full but not hard, and yogurt is sometimes used for sour crop. I wonder if this is what she has? I've never dealt with this, only read about it here, so I'm just passing things along. We have an older thread on sour crop with excellent advice in it, I am told; note particularly post #13. It is linked in our FAQ forum.

Good luck!

Thanks i'll take a look at the link you posted.

I had a hen with sour crop and that was all watery when squeezed but this one feels different firm like food rather than fluid.

carried out crop opp today. all went well and she's looking good drinking a little water and even pooped !!!

Her crop was full of undigested hay and grass. we removed a hell of a lot there was no way she was going to pass that if we had'nt opened her up she would of died.
The opp went well easier than i thought . the hardest part was to close her up again we used super glue and it worked a treat.

If any one find them selves in the same dilemer i say go for it if nothing esle has worked , i'll keep you all informed as to her progress and recovery. i'll keep her on water only for tonight and try her with a little yoghult and hunny tomorrow the slowly introduse soft food .. thanks to all for your advise.. keep u posted
