soooo... i went to TSC about 3 weeks ago and picked up 8 chicks. two are supposed to be barred rock pullets, two straight runs new hampshire reds, two straight run buff orpingtons, and two straight run black australorps. the barred rocks and the new hampshire reds are about a week older than the rest. anyway, i was reading some threads on here about barred rocks. after reading those i am 90% sure that one of the barred rocks is a roo. he's got lighter feet, very light feathering, and a bright red comb and waddle. i've pretty much accepted the fact that one of the "pullets" is a cockerel, but i was hoping to determine the gender of the two nh reds. they are about the same age as the barred rocks (which is 4-5 weeks). is that old enough to tell the gender? does anyone have any info on the new hampshire reds (everyone seems so into the RIRs)? i wasnt able to take any pictures yet... i'll try to get them up asap, but any info would be GREATLY appreciated.
