I must add my voice to this one. I am from the Chicagoland area - have lived there most of my life and it is one of the most backward-thinking, small-minded places you can imagine. The point about what Daley did to Meigs is a great example. It's one of the most corrupt places in this country and they are not interested in being forward and modern or even appearing to be so. The city is still being run the way it was in the 20s and it's so sad. I've never been happier to live away from there, in a more relaxed, natural, modern place such as San Antonio, where I can be free to raise backyard chickens without being harassed. You've gotta keep strong and keeping fighting Linda. That media exposure is the best way to go. It's gonna probably be a long uphill battle - you're fighting a lot of ignorant corrupt bonebrains there. Maybe you could enlist some of the members of the backyard chicken community in Madison, WI to help you out somehow: http://www.madcitychickens.com/index.html. Maybe they could drive down and you guys could have a big chicken rally or picket-line or something.

I stumbled across this thread, and was wondering what the result was. It looks like chickens are still okay to have in Chicago, 7-12-387 of the code only prohibits members of the Columbidae family (pigeons) and says nothing about restrictions on chickens.
