Ok so I guess my frizzle layed her first egg yesterday, though I did not find one today.
My bantams are now almost 5 months old and I have 2 silke roos(not crowing yet...hmmmmm) and yes they are roos. LOL!

Anyway the roos have not been caught in the act of doing anything to the hens, and I thought that at this age they would just be shooting blanks anyway.
Well I decided to open up one of the frizzle eggs...
and guess what A BULLSEYE! A fertile egg! How is this possible? I mean is it possible?
I looked at Speckled hens charts of a fertile and INfertile eggs and it is a fertile egg.
Maybe I am imagining?

Please tell me if anyone has had this experience at all.

ya think? I thought they had to crow before they did the "wild thing". And I have also read on here that they have to be a year old? Is this true??

No clue on the crowing thing, but the 1yr thing is absolutely untrue.

Too funny! My hens and roo are just over 5 months old. They hens have been laying for just over a week now. I just cracked open 4 eggs and 2 out of the 4 of them ARE fertile! I have studied Speckled Hens post as well. Because of that it was very easy to tell that these 2 eggs are fertile!

Wow that is exciting on your end and mine!
I will be going on vacaton for a week and then I might just pop them in the incubator to see if I can get a baby sizzle out of all of this.

That will be so awsome!

At that age they are teenagers aren't they? You never know what they are doing behind your back. They are very good at sneaking around

Yes, typical teens- acting innocent when you are watching..

Good luck with the new eggs. I wish Carmen would start laying , already. She is too busy being a bossy lady. A SPARROW landed in their yard and she fluffed up and charged across the yard to scare it off. A sparrow, for goodness sake.
