Imported Live Birds are temporarily banned from entering puerto rico, because some fighting birds in the Domincan Republic were found to have strains of avian flu. Its not unusual for Dominican birds to be imported for cockfights which is a 700 million dollar a year industry in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico has never had a reported case of avian flu, so no foreign birds are being allowed to enter the country.
They say the ban is temporary, but make no mention of when it might be lifted, so unless its lifted soon, I'll be hatching eggs instead of ordering live chicks.
