In a funk about the skunks!

I wonder if you can hang a bee hive from a tree, out of reach of a bear. On a branch too thin for a bear to climb on, of course...and maybe on a cable attached to something so you could lift and lower it if you needed to do something to it? I mean...wild bees - and sometimes 'tame' bees that swarm, often build nests in trees. As said above, we plan to move to an area that has bears. I hadn't decided on whether to "do" bees, but I was considering it.

I've never had to deal personally with a skunk problem, however, quite a few that have, say there is an easy fix. Get the chocolate ex-lax type laxative. Put it out where you know the skunk will be, and let it eat it. The laxative does not kill them, but causes them to mess up their "home", so they move away from the area.

And then who has to clean that up?

Years ago we were camping. The woman I was with had brought her dog and had dog food in the car and she left the window open. Needless to say the next morning the dog food was gone, the whole insude had poop everywhere and little raccoon feet prints in poop on the outside of the car. It was one stinky mess

bears. we have the odd one here, where i go stream fishing the place is infested with them. i have a fear of bears, but still want to hunt one lol

but i did read my province allows bee keepers to shoot bears if there 1 mile from your hives and have caused damage before.

When we had a beekeeper's hives here, he used electric fencing to keep out the skunks and raccoons. Only good electric fencing will keep bears out; premier1supplies.com has good information and products, and HowardE has good information on this forum.
When bears arrive here, we'll add electric fencing to out coop!
I grew up spending every summer in NW Wisconsin, in the woods, 'free ranging' and never worried much about the black bears. I made noise, and they avoided me. In grizzly country, different problems will occur!

I know this is a late reply, but have you considered coyote or bobcat urine? They sell it on Amazon and I've been using the bobcat urine to deter rats...So far so good. It's been about a week since I used it. BTW, love your profile info. Cracked me up!

He's the only boy I kept this year, he seems to be nicely tempered too.
Albert is a baby skunk that I hoped would move on once he grew up but as you see he's still here.
