Good morning fellow chicken fans. I have been away for a while, the last time I was here our coop was being built you can find that thread here. Due to some budget/seasonal issues the chickens had to be pushed back. I am happy to report however, that they are on the way!

bought and paid for are 3 Rhode Island Reds, and 3 Black bar rock chicks. now the project becomes building a brooder.

Hey lilredhomestead, how are your chicks? Are they here yet? I have 4 six week old chicks I got from a lovely hatchery in the huntervalley, NSW. I got 2 golden comets, and 1 supposed golden comet but she looks a bit different from the others. My lil sister also got 1 black star. And I have one warning for you... baby chickens are EXAUSTING!!! But I will let you find out why on your own...

Update.

I just got the chicken coop off of the under engineered legs it was on, and on to it’s temporary, portable home. Eventually it will function like a truckbed camper and lift off of the trailer to stand on steel legs.

They are here now with us. We got them on ge 20th of June. They are currently taking over the place.

Today we started on building the working area for the girls. I’m putting a good bit of care into making it so it’s taking a bit longer. I’m going to build them a bigger fixed run a little later on, but for now they have work to do.
