We are designing a brooder underneath one of our poop boards, so it will roughly be 2x8. Is it enough space for a a Dorking hen to raise a bunch of chicks within the coop? Will the chicks get too large for that space before they can be integrated with the other hens and rooster? I think it's too small, so maybe we can rig a temporary extra run within the coop on either side of the brooder, extending it on both sides? How does everyone else build brooder's into the coop?
