The hen has been laying on her eggs for a few weeks, and two of them hatched! She took care of them but left three of her eggs and stopped sitting on them while they were in the process of hatching, and the babies ended up shrink-wrapped. That’s when the membrane drys up and they kinda get stuck inside the shell. Since the mom wasn’t laying on them, I put them in our incubator and hoped I wouldn’t have to open them myself. Well I did and... it worked!!!

I have always read not to help babies out of a shell, and it’s true. You shouldn’t help a chick out the egg, it’s very dangerous! Read up and make sure you really need to help them out because eggs sometimes take time to hatch. But these are unincubated button quails, and the momma left them for hours!

Me and my husband took the risk and helped these little babies out last night, and now all three are doing really well right now!
